Several years ago, I led a large healthcare system. I've been obsessed with the idea of leadership and imagination going hand-in-hand. I was fully engaged in the struggle to take imagination 'live' in the complex, life-and-death world that is a modern hospital and healthcare system.
Hospitals and healthcare systems are not the only areas where life is complicated, messy, and hard. If you want to build a great organization with a vibrant, caring, and creative culture that consistently innovates and outperforms competitors, then you have to instill imagination into the collective culture.
Each of us has developed abilities, learned competencies, and dysfunctional tendencies, as well as limiting attitudes and mindsets. Imagination is the power to turn our ordinary into extraordinary. Lead With Imagination is the story I want to share in hopes it will light a way and that it will spark you to embark on your journey to lead with imagination and to live your story fully.
Lead with Imagination
promises three returns on your investment of time from reading it:
- You will be inspired by the possibilities and strengthened against the challenges.
- You will gain power and confidence to imagine, create, and innovate. We are all born with innate imagination and curiosity—learn how to use it.
- You will release your fullest potential and help release the potential of those you lead.
We are “smarter” than any generation in history, but that isn’t the problem. The problem is imagination is not advancing at the same pace. But where there’s a closed door, there’s an open window of opportunity for those willing to climb through, to take a risk, and see what others don’t. Will you #leadwithimagination?
